The construction of the new commuter interchange in Valdebebas has begun

Intercambiador de cercanías en Valdebebas Madrd

COMEDAP has provided technical assistance in the installation of the project.

The construction of a new interchange has begun on Manuel Fraga Iribarne Avenue, which will directly connect to the Metro network after the extension of Line 11. This interchange will also have connections to the northern sections of the C-1 and C-10 commuter trains, various bus lines, and taxi services.

The building under construction since late August will cover an area of 6,835 square meters and will be distributed over two floors. It will feature a lobby, information areas, and waiting spaces for buses and taxis, as well as a power substation and commercial premises. Additionally, it will have a large adjacent plaza and a recreational area of 17,000 square meters that will include green spaces, as well as a parking area of approximately 900 square meters.

The objective of this new infrastructure is to improve the connections of the Valdebebas neighborhood with public transportation and reduce travel times for passengers using public transport. Its location will cover high-traffic areas such as Ciudad de La Justicia and the public hospital Enfermera Isabel Zendal.

The Valdebebas interchange will join the five already operational interchanges in the Madrid region: Moncloa, Plaza de Castilla, Príncipe Pío, Avenida de América, and Plaza Elíptica. Additionally, new interchanges are planned for Conde de Casal, Legazpi, and Chamartín. The basic project and execution of these facilities were approved in March 2022, and the construction works were awarded in June and began in late August.
